Facts
Twinkies snack cakes were invented in 1930 by James Dewar of the Continental Baking Company in Chicago. Dewar supposedly ate 2 Twinkies a day until he died in 1985
Campbell Soup Company, owner of Swanson, replaced the aluminum trays of Swanson frozen dinners with plastic, microwavable trays in 1986Supposedly, the toothpick was first used in the U.S. at the Union Oyster House. The oldest restaurant in Boston, it opened in 1826.

Raisins freeze well for long periods of time. They also thaw quickly at room temperature.Recipe
California Fig-Orange Muffins
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup Blue Ribbon Orchard Choice Calimyrna or Mission Figs, chopped
Zest of one orange
1 cup plain yogurt
oven to 400°F.
In large bowl stir together flour, baking soda and salt. In large mixer bowl cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Place figs and orange zest in food processor fitted with metal blade. Process until mixture forms a paste.
Blend fig paste into creamed butter mixture; stir in yogurt. Add fig mixture all at once to dry ingredients and stir just until moistened. Divide batter among 12 large greased muffin cups. Bake in 400° F oven 15 to 17 minutes or until done.
Yield: 1 dozen
