Mr Clean Mr Clean

The Original Mr. Clean actor, House Peters Jr., passed Oct. 1 2008 at the age of 92. He died of pneumonia. So sad. I love his head on the box of my magic erasers.

Quote by~Ruth Ann Schabacker
Each day comes bearing its own gifts.
Untie the ribbons.

Fact
Mr. Clean's theme song, or jingle, has been around since the product's introduction, initially sung as a popular-music style duet between a man (Don Cherry) and a woman (Betty Bryan).
Thomas Scott Cadden (1923-2007) wrote the jingle at his home in Skokie, Illinois in the spring of 1957

Original lyrics by Thomas Scott Cadden:Chorus:
Mr. Clean gets rid of dirt and grime
And grease in just a minute
Mr. Clean will clean your whole house
And everything that's in it
Verse #1:
Floors, doors, walls, halls
White sidewall tires and old golfballs
Sinks, stoves, bathtubs he'll do
He'll even help clean laundry, too.
Verse #2:
Can he clean a kitchen sink?
Quicker than a wink.
Can he clean a window sash?
Faster than a flash.
Can he clean a dirty mirror?
He'll make it bright and clearer.
Can he clean a diamond ring?
Mr. Clean cleans anything.
Chorus:
Mr. Clean gets rid of dirt and grime
And grease in just a minute
Mr. Clean will clean your whole house
And everything that's in it
Mr. Clean ... Mr. Clean ... Mr. Clean

Tip

How to Season a skillet
from Dear Helosie

In fact, I have my grandmother's and mother's. If yours is an old skillet, wash (no metal brushes or scrubbers, and just a drop of soap) and dry. Rub the inside, outside and lid (if it has one) with a very light coat of shortening, lard or light cooking oil. Aerosol spray should probably not be used due to the additives, which can cause the pan to become sticky.
If the skillet is new and has a protective coating on it, use a steel-wool scouring pad, soap and the hottest water possible to scrub it off, but only the first time.
Place the clean, oiled skillet in the oven upside down on an aluminum-covered baking sheet to catch oil drips. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for an hour. Carefully use a dry cloth or paper towel to keep the surface evenly coated with oil. After baking, let the skillet cool in the oven.
When cleaning a cast-iron skillet, be sure it is cool before doing so, and use a nonmetallic scrubber. Many people use salt as a scrubber or use mild dish soap (only before seasoning, not after every use, most professionals agree), rinse well and dry. Do not soak, let water sit in it or put iron cookware in the dishwasher.

Trim roots and cut off leaves of celery; separate stalks and wash.

Cut into 4 inch lengths.

Taper narrow end for broom handle.

Cut other end into many fine strips, 1 inch long to make brush part. Chill in ice water until brush strips separate and slightly curl.

Use to scoop up your favorite dip or spread with peanut butter.

Hi Ginger,
I know, so sad. I love Mr.Clean.
Yes you did see a turkey, that is now completely glittered in the appropriate colors. I will try to take a picture and put it on my blog. If you only knew how busy with glitter I was this week, and I just finshed an order for 54 tags.
By the way, you are always finding such cool links and things. I have been trying since last Oct to find sugarfree candycorn. Can you find it?
Have a great weekend.
