Spam was introduced by Hormel in 1937

100 million pounds of Spam were shipped to Allied troops during World War II.

Hormel even created a mascot named Slammin’ Spammy. The scowling, bomb-tossing, cartoon pig was painted on planes, depicted on posters and silk-screened onto T-shirts.

Hormel produces 44,000 cans of Spam every single hour.

Spam does not contain lips, hind parts and other “mechanically separated parts.”
