Recipe
Basic white cake
2 cups white sugar1 cup butter (softened)5 egg yolks5 egg whites2 1/2 cups CAKE flour1/2 tsp. salt2 tsp. baking powder1 cup milk1 or 2 tsp. vanillaIn a mixer add egg whites–beat until stiff–set aside. Into a bowl sift the cake flour, salt and baking powder–set aside. In a mixer add butter, egg yolks, and white sugar–beat. Add vanilla and milk–beat. Add cake flour mixture–beat. Add beaten egg whites to the batter–beat well. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13 cake pan. Bake at 350-375 degrees for 25-35 minutes–test with a toothpick for doneness.
