Horse hair was used as stuffing in the 1800s and as covering fabric for furniture.
• In the 1800s horse hair was also used for making sieves for sieving flower etc.
• Shaving brushes.
• Horse hair was common in hats and women’s underwear in the past.
• Horse hair was also used in women’s hair to create the Gibson Girl look.
• A lot of wigs in the 1700s were made from horse hair.
• Fishing lines.

Recipe
Horse Reradish

1 cup peeled and cubed horseradish root
3/4 cup white vinegar
2 teaspoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt

In an electric food processor or blender, process horseradish root, vinegar, sugar and salt. Carefully remove the cover of the processor or blender, keeping your face away from the container. Cover and store the horseradish in the refrigerator.

1 (2 1/2 oz.) box Sure-Jell powdered pectin2 c. water1 (6 oz.) can frozen concentrated orange juice, thawed2 1/2 c. sugar3/4 c. honey
Measure pectin and water into large saucepan and mix well. Place over high heat and bring to full rolling boil, boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low. Add thawed orange juice, sugar and honey. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved but do not boil. Remove from heat. Skim off foam. Pour quickly into sterilized glasses.
