"National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military"

The "National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military" cost $1.5 million, and was a combined effort of the port of San Diego, the Hope family, and Navy vets of World War II's Battle of Leyte Gulf. The plaza and sculpture were officially dedicated in July 8, 2009, with two of Bob Hope's children on hand.

Taco Dip

Serves 8-10avocados-4 ripepicante sauce (Pace medium), to tastelemon juice, to tastegarlic powder, to tastesalt, to taste

sour cream-1 pint

Lawry’s Taco Seasoning Mix (powder form)

sharp cheddar cheese—1 ½ cups grated

medium tomatoes- 4 chopped

black olives-chopped; 4 oz. can

Do not use food processor for this dip; mix by hand.

Mash avocados and blend with picante sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder and salt, to taste. Spread on the bottom of a shallow serving pan.Combine sour cream and Lawry’s Mix; spread on top of the avocado mixture.Add grated cheese as the next layer. Add chopped tomatoes.Add black olives as the top ingredient. Use an oval ceramic dish measuring about 8 inches in length.Serve with chips.
