Here are some images from MURAKAMI, a retrospective exhibition of work by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, which opened two weeks ago at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

Quote by~Carolyn Wells
'Tis blessed to bestow, and yet,Could we bestow the gifts we get,And keep the ones we give away,How happy were our Christmas day!
Fact
The first electric Christmas lights
were displayed in the home of Edward Johnson, a colleague of Thomas Edison, just three years after the light bulb was invented.. I suspect was actually a publicity stunt, as the New York papers did not cover the event. It was, however, covered by a reporter from the Detroit Post and Tribune. Johnson's tree had hand wired lights in the patriotic colors of red, white and blue. The lights flashed alternately, and the tree rotated as well.

Recipe
LOLLIPOP COOKIES
1 roll sugar cookie dough
1 pkg. lollipop sticks
Variety of candy sprinkles
1 pkg. clear lollipop sacks Ribbon to tie sacks
Freeze roll of dough; slice 1/4 inch slices of cookies. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with decorator balls or candy sprinkles. Bake at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes. Remove from oven and place lollipop sticks into bottom of each cookie about 1/4 to 1/2 inch into dough. Place cookies back into oven and cook until dough is done (approximately 3 to 5 minutes). When cookies are cooled, wrap lollipop in sacks and tie with ribbons.
COOKIE POPS FOR A PARTY
1 box of sugar or chocolate chip cookie mix
1 egg
Assorted decoration: Jelly Beans, M and M, Reeses Pieces, Sprinkles,
Flat ice cream sticks
1. Make dough as directed for cut cookies. 2. Shape 1 tablespoon of dough into ball for each cookie. 3. Push ice cream stick into center of each ball. 4. Flatten balls with floured glass bottom. 5. Press decorations lightly into dough. 6. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 9 minutes. 7. Cool 1 to 3 minutes and remove from cookies sheet. Do not pick up stick until completely cool.

Tip
Stop buying buying expensive garbage disposal deodorizer, throw in a few pieces of chopped lemon.
Run hot water in the drain and turn on the disposal, letting it grind up the lemon. It freshens it and helps clean it too.

Crafts and Tutorial
Have a wonderful day!
