Route 66 in California

Route 66 in California

Hello everyone,Hope you all have a blessed day!
This is last day of July

Quote By~Franklin P. Jones
Love doesn't make the world go 'round
Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.

Its a fact:
Julie Nixon, daughter of Richard Nixon married David Eisenhower, grandson of Dwight Eisenhower.
Lorne Green had one of his nipples bitten off by an alligator while host of Lorne Green's Wild Kingdom.
Leonardo da Vinci was dyslexic, and he often wrote backwards.
People who studies laughter are called a "gelotologists."
Ringo Starr appeared in a Japanese advertisement for apple sauce. Ironically his name means "apple sauce" in Japanese.

One and one-half quarts prepared watermelon rind
1 tablespoon ground ginger
4 tablespoons salt
4 cups sugar
2 quarts cold water
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 lemon, thinly sliced
7 cups water

To prepare watermelon rind - trim green skin and pink flesh from thick watermelon rind; cut into 1-inch pieces. Dissolve salt in 1 quart water and pour over rind. Let stand 5 to 6 hours if salt is used. Drain; rinse and drain again. Cover with cold water and let stand 30 minutes. Drain. Sprinkle ginger over rind; cover with water and cook until fork-tender. Drain. Combine sugar, lemon juice and 7 cups water. Boil 5 minutes; . add rind and boil gently for 30 minutes. Add sliced lemon and cook until the melon rind is clear. Pack, boiling hot, into hot Ball jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space. Adjust caps. Process half pints and pints 20 minutes at 180 - 250 degrees F in hot water bath.

Yield: about 6 half pints

(Just about the best on earth!)
6-10 medium cucumbers
One onion, sliced thin (I cut the onion in quarters before slicing thin)
1/4 cup of pickling salt
2 cups cider vinegar
2 and one-half cup of sugar
3/4 teaspoons of mustard seeds
3/4 teaspoon of celery seeds
one-half teaspoon of tumeric

Wash cucumber and drain. Slice thin, as for table use. Mix all other ingredients and pour over slices. Mix together lightly. Place in glass jars in refrigerator. Can be eaten after 24 hours. Nice and crispy. Good with hamburger.

You can use whatever glass jars you have. They don't necessarily have to be canning jars.
