Pop up calendar 2010




So as 2010 draw near, paper company Fedrigoni turned to Studio8 Design for their 2010 calendar, which takes the form of a post-it style calendar with a page-per-day, a colour-per-month and the user can fold the day (number) stand up everyday, for a whole year.

Recipe
Snowball Cookies
1 cup butter softened
1 cup powdered sugar (plus more for topping)
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped pecans
3/4 tsp. salt
Preparation:
Heat oven to 350 . Mix butter, 1 cup powdered sugar and the vanilla. Stir in flour, nuts and salt until dough holds together. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 17 to 20 minutes or until set but not brown. Roll in powdered sugar while warm. Cool. Roll in powdered sugar again.

Recipe
Coconut Rolled Sugar cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped red and green candied cherries
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup flaked coconut
In mixing bowl beat butter or margarine until softened. Add the sugar and beat until fluffy. Add the milk and vanilla and mix well. Add the flour and beat until well mixed. Stir in the cherries and pecans. Shape into three 7-inch long rolls. Roll in the coconut to coat. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for several hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cut rolls into 1/4-inch slices and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 12 minutes or until done.
Remove to a wire rack and cool.

Cafe Bavarian mint flavored Coffee
1/4 C. Powdered Creamer
1/3 C. Sugar
1/4 C. Instant Coffee
2 T. Powdered Baking Cocoa
2 hard candy Peppermints
Process in a blender on liquify until well blended. Store in an air tight container. Use by tablespoonfuls according to taste.Spoon in cup and add hot water.

Recipe
Orange Sliced Cookies
1 cup shortening (192 grams)
1 cup dark brown sugar (210 grams)
1 cup white sugar (192 grams)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour – (260 grams)
1 teaspoon baking powder – 5ml
1 teaspoon baking soda – 5ml
2 large eggs
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup orange slices, chopped
2 cups oats
1 cup pecans, toasted and chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
Cream shortenting and both sugars with an electric mixer. Beat in vanilla. Add eggs and beat just until mixed (about 30 seconds).
Thoroughly stir flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together and add to sugar mixture. Stir until incorporated, then stir in coconut, orange slices, oats and nuts.
Shape dough into neat 2 inch balls and set about 2 1/2 inches apart on parchment lined or ungreased cookie sheets and press them down to make rounds a little over 1/2 inch thick. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until they appear set. You can also make them smaller if you’d like.
Depending on how big you make them, you should get anywhere from 2 to 3 dozen cookies.

A Potatoes can also help you with your skin problems. Acne, blackheads and whiteheads can be treated using potatoes in two methods. The first method is to simply cut a potato in half and rubbing the inside part of it on the affected area. Leave the juice on for half a minute and rinse. The other method is to make a face mask. To make the face mask, blend the potatoes in the blender and apply the paste on your face. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse off.

Recipe
Spanish Chicken and Rice
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 bone-in chicken thighs, skin removed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
2 medium green peppers, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 cloves garlic, crushed with press1 large onion, chopped
1 tablespoon paprika
2 cans (14 1/2-ounce size) diced tomatoes
1 can (14- to 14 1/2-ounce size) chicken broth
3 cups water
2 1/2 cups long-grain white rice
1 package (10-ounce size) frozen peas
1 cup salad olives or coarsely chopped pimiento-stuffed olives
Preheat oven to 350degrees F.
In 5- to 6-quart Dutch oven, heat oil on medium-high until hot. Sprinkle chicken all over with salt and black pepper; cook, in 2 batches, about 6 minutes per batch, until lightly browned on both sides. With tongs, transfer chicken pieces to small roasting pan (13" by 9") or jelly-roll pan (1 1/2" by 10 1/2"). Cover roasting pan with foil and bake chicken 25 to 30 minutes or until juices run clear when thickest part of thigh is pierced with tip of knife. meanwhile, in same Dutch oven, cook green peppers, garlic, and onion about 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in paprika and cook 30 seconds. Add tomatoes with their juice, broth, water, and rice; heat to boiling on high. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 10 minutes. Stir in frozen peas and olives. Grease two 2- to 2 1/2-quart glass or ceramic baking dishes. Spoon half the rice mixture into each prepared baking dish. Carefully tuck thighs into hot rice mixture. Cover and bake one dish 25 minutes or until rice is tender and most of liquid is absorbed. Fluff rice to serve. Meanwhile, prepare second baking dish for freezingTo reheat after thawing 24 hours: Conventional oven: Heat, loosely covered, at 350 degrees F 1 1/2 hours. Microwave oven: Not recommended; cooking is uneven and rice turns mushy.serves/makes 8
